The Exclusive Synthesis & Catalysts Business Unit develops tailor-made chemical processes and a broad range of different catalysts in close cooperation with its customers and in markets with high growth potential. With 13 locations in Europe, the Nafta region, Asia and South America, the Business Unit generated sales of € 335 million in 2005. Thanks to Degussa’s global network of locations, customers everywhere benefit from its comprehensive services, ranging from lab-scale development to full commercial production.

Focusing on custom manufacturing, the Exclusive Synthesis business line develops custom-designed syntheses, especially for active pharmaceutical ingredients and advanced intermediates. Offering integrated catalytic system solutions, the Catalysts business line supplies a wide range of highly specialized catalyst technologies for the life sciences, fine and industrial chemicals, and polymers. The product portfolio of the Initiators business line, which is part of Business Unit since January 1, 2006, includes organic peroxides, persulphates and organic intermediates for the plastics industry.

Through its collaboration with the start-up Degussa Homogeneous Catalysts and with the
Service Center Biocatalysis, the Exclusive Synthesis & Catalysts Business Unit is the only provider of heterogeneous, homogeneous and biocatalysts from a single source. This unique offering gives our customers the most cost-effective solutions for their businesses.
